On 19th December 2013 Howard Elgot was successful in one of the first claims in the British Coal Vibration White Finger (VWF) Professional Negligence litigation, Sharp v. Raleys.

The claims involve the alleged under settlement of hundreds of claims made by coal miners who suffered VWF as a result of using vibratory tools. The litigation has been referred to on the front page of the Times and there have been Parliamentary debates and questions about the way these claims were originally handled. The full judgment can be read here (PDF).

Apart from acting in the main litigation Howard is also the lead counsel in the Nottingham County Court claims brought against Vendside Ltd, the claims handling arm of the Union of Democratic Mineworkers.”
