Julie focuses on the Family Law arena of both public and private children cases. She specialises in cases involving allegations of domestic abuse, parental alienation, NAI and sexual abuse; appearing in all court levels on lengthy and complex hearings; she also has experience in both financial remedies and in court of protection.

Her forensic approach to cases cuts to the real issues allowing frank and practical advice, saving stress and financial cost and building a mutually respectful relationship, which is both comforting and reassuring to the client. Her excellent client care skills have also assisted anxious and vulnerable clients to fully participate in proceedings.

Following her call to the bar in July 2003 by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, Julie commenced her career in Crime and Prison Law, representing defendants in court and at parole board hearings and in appealing life sentence tariffs.

Julie has previously worked as a solicitor in private practice solicitors firms and with both South Tyneside and Northumberland County Council as a local authority solicitor on public law children cases.

Areas of Expertise

Public Law

Julie has a great deal of public law experience involving cases of neglect, sexual abuse, and non accidental injury and receives regular instructions to appear on behalf of parents, Local Authorities and children in a wide variety of matters in all levels of courts, including the High Court.

Private Law

Julie has represented parents at all stages in private law proceedings including residence and contact disputes, cases concerning proposed moves out of jurisdiction, and in prohibited steps order matters, enforcement proceedings and fact finding hearings.

North Eastern Circuit

Julie has provided training and given accredited talks on both private and public Family Law work. Most recently: Case preparation - issuing care proceedings Arrangements concerning children, domestic violence & abuse; the approach adopted by the court.
