Lydia Reed (pupil)
About
Lydia commenced her specialist civil law pupillage in October 2024 under the supervision of Hylton Armstrong and Andrew Sugarman. She began her second six on 31 March 2025.
During her first six, she experienced a range of Chambers’ civil and employment work, most recently in multi-day employment hearings concerning discrimination, equal pay and redundancy. She also saw personal injury and clinical negligence work, including joint settlement meetings and conferences with experts. She now accepts instructions in a range of employment and civil matters.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Lydia was a trade union representative at London-based Union, where she represented members as Claimants in a variety of employment proceedings. She drafted pleadings, as well as supported members in grievance hearings and employment proceedings. This experience has ensured Lydia is comfortable approaching both Claimant and Respondent work.
During university, she was part of the Employment Litigant in Person support scheme and was a student advisor at the University of Bristol Law Clinic for five years. She continues her pro bono work in her second six having signed up to Advocate’s Pupil Pledge.
Lydia was awarded the Kennedy Scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn. She is a graduate from the University of Bristol. She completed both her undergraduate LLB and postgraduate LLM degrees, whilst also achieving the Bristol Plus Award.
